About Gujarat High Court

The Gujarat High Court, established on May 1, 1960, is the highest judicial authority in the state of Gujarat. It was formed following the bifurcation of the former Bombay State into Maharashtra and Gujarat. Initially located near Akashwani in Navrangpura, Ahmedabad, the High Court later relocated to a new building on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway in Sola, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on January 16, 1999.

Gujarat High Court Recruitment 2024

The High Court of Gujarat, situated in Sola, Ahmedabad, has announced online applications for various positions. These vacancies are to be filled through direct recruitment in the Gujarat High Court, District Courts, Industrial Courts, and Labour Courts.

Gujarat High Court Recruitment 2024  Eligibility Criteria

a)Essential Qualifications:

(i) Graduation from a recognized University.

(ii) Proficiency of 100 words per minute in English shorthand.

(iii) Proficiency in computer operation.

b) Computer Knowledge:

Candidates must hold a certificate demonstrating basic computer knowledge as specified by the State Government periodically.

c) Age Limit:

• Minimum age requirement: 18 years
• Maximum age limit: 35 years
• Age relaxations:
  • SC/ST/SEBC & EWS Candidates (of Gujarat Origin ONLY): 5 years
  • Women Candidates: 5 years
  • Differently Abled Persons (PH): 10 years
  • Ex-Servicemen: Actual service rendered + 3 years
  • Employees working in the District Courts or any other High Court: 5 years or to the extent of equal service rendered, whichever is less.
• The upper age limit after relaxation should not exceed 45 years.

Gujarat High Court Recruitment 2024 Selection Process

a) The Select List will be based on the combined marks obtained by candidates in the Main Written Test, Stenography/Skill Test, and Viva-voce Test.

b) The Select List will remain valid until all advertised vacancies are filled or for one year from its publication date, whichever comes first.

c) Failure to accept the appointment offer within the specified timeframe will result in the candidate forfeiting their right to appointment.

d) The Select List will be published on the High Court website, HC-OJAS websites, and/or through any other mode decided by the High Court.

Gujarat High Court Recruitment 2024 Exam Pattern

The Competitive Examinations shall consist of :

(a) Main Written Test (Descriptive-Type) [ 40 Marks ]

(b) Stenography/Skill Test [ 40 Marks ]

(c) Viva-voce Test (Oral Interview) [ 20 Marks ]

Main Written Test (Descriptive-Type):

• Conducted at either Ahmedabad or other district locations.
• Total Marks: 40
• Duration: Approximately 90 Minutes
• Language: English
• Syllabus: Essay, Letter Writing, Precise Writing, and other English Language & Grammar related questions.
• Qualifying Standard: Candidates must secure a minimum of 50% to qualify for the Stenography/Skill Test.

Stenography/Skill Test:

• Total Marks: 40
• Duration of Dictation per Passage: 4 minutes
• Total Passages: 2
• Speed of Dictation: 100 words per minute
• Total Transcription Time: 50 minutes
• Candidates must take dictation in shorthand notation only; using longhand will result in disqualification.
• A minimum of 50% Marks is required to pass the Stenography/Skill Test.

Viva-voce Test (Oral Interview):

• Total Marks: 20
• Candidates must obtain a minimum of 50% Marks in the Viva-Voce Test to be included in the Final Merit List.

Gujarat High Court Recruitment 2024 Salary

The salary for the position of English Stenographer Grade-II in the Pay Matrix of Rs. 39,900 – 1,26,600/- and additional allowances as per the rules of the High Court of Gujarat. Typically, the salary starts at the minimum of the pay scale and increases with experience and promotions.
