CIL Recruitment 2024 Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualifications
- General Note:
- B.E. / B.Tech / B.Sc (Engg.) / MCA must be from a recognized University/Institute and should be a full-time course.
- Minimum Qualifying Marks:
- General (UR), OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), & EWS: 60%
- SC, ST, & Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD): 55% (relaxation of 5%)
- CGPA/GPA candidates must attach a conversion certificate in percentage.
Eligibility for Appearing Candidates:
- Candidates currently in the final semester/year of their required qualification and who have appeared in GATE 2024 are eligible to apply, provided their name appears in the qualified candidates list from the organizing institute.
- Final pass results must be submitted before final selection/document verification.
- All subjects of the final year must be cleared in a single attempt.
- Previous years/semesters must also be cleared by the final results declaration date.
- Upload the latest year/semester mark sheet of the relevant qualification.

CIL Recruitment 2024 Selection Process
- Eligible candidates must have qualified for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2024).
- Shortlisting will be discipline-wise and category-wise based on GATE scores in a 1:3 ratio, in order of merit.
- In case of a tie in GATE scores:
- Preference will be given first to candidates with a higher percentage mark/CGPA in the minimum eligible qualification.
- If there’s still a tie, the older candidate will be preferred.
- A final merit list will be prepared solely based on GATE 2024 scores; prior or subsequent scores will not be considered.
- Candidates currently employed in Government/PSUs/Autonomous bodies must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) or a properly receipted copy of their application seeking NOC during the online application process.
- Applications with any document other than a NOC will be rejected.
- Those joining after submitting their application must present a proper NOC during document verification and initial medical examination, or risk rejection.
- The final list of selected candidates will be posted on the CIL website, with notifications about Document Verification (DV) and Initial Medical Examination (IME) sent via email.
- Offers of appointment will be made after the successful completion of Document Verification and Initial Medical Examination, along with the submission of a relieving letter from the current employer if applicable.
CIL Recruitment 2024 Salary
- Selected candidates will be Management Trainees in E-2 Grade, with a pay scale of ₹50,000 – ₹1,60,000, starting at ₹50,000 during training.
- After one year of training and passing the required test, they will be regularized to E-3 Grade, starting at ₹60,000, with a one-year probation.
- Additional benefits include Dearness Allowance, HRA, and allowances under a cafeteria approach, including Performance Related Pay (PRP).
- Candidates will also receive benefits like leave, medical facilities, gratuity, and pension schemes as per company rules.
- Actual remuneration may vary based on posting location, company performance, and individual ratings.
CIL Recruitment 2024 Posting & Agreement Bond
- Candidates may be posted anywhere within the subsidiary companies, including coalfield areas. Applicants must be willing to serve anywhere in India.
- Candidates will provide three preferences for posting, but the final decision will depend on vacancy availability and CIL Management’s discretion.
- Appointed candidates must serve a minimum of 60 months from the joining date and execute a service agreement bond of ₹3 Lakhs.
- A deduction of ₹5,000 per month from the salary will be made towards the bond, which will be refunded without interest after completing 60 months of service.
CIL Recruitment 2024 Application Fee
- Candidates from GENERAL (UR), OBC (Creamy and Non-Creamy Layer), and EWS categories must pay a non-refundable application fee of ₹1,000 plus applicable GST of ₹180, totaling ₹1,180.
- SC, ST, PwBD candidates, and employees of Coal India Limited and its subsidiaries are exempt from paying the application fee.
- The application fee must be paid online; no other payment methods are accepted.
- CIL is not responsible for any incorrect fee deposits in the wrong accounts.
- The application fee is non-refundable under any circumstances, so candidates should ensure their eligibility before applying.
- CIL does not charge any fees or charges other than the specified application fee.
