About Bank of Baroda (BOB)
Bank of Baroda (BOB) is a government-owned public sector bank headquartered in Vadodara, Gujarat. It is the second-largest public sector bank in India after the State Bank of India and ranked 586 on the Forbes Global 2000 list (2023).
The bank was founded on 20 July 1908 by the Maharaja of Baroda, Sayajirao Gaekwad III, in the princely state of Baroda. On 19 July 1969, the Government of India nationalized Bank of Baroda, along with 13 other major commercial banks, making it a profit-making public sector undertaking (PSU).
