About BIS

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is the National Standards Body of India under the Department of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Government of India. It is established by the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 which came into effect on 12 October 2017. The Minister in charge of the Ministry or Department having administrative control of the BIS is the ex-officio President of the BIS. BIS has 500 plus scientific officers working as Certification Officers, Member secretaries of technical committees, and lab OICs

BIS Recruitment Eligibility Criteria

• Scientist B

Vacancies:

• Bio-Medical Engineering: 02 Posts
• Chemistry: 02 Posts
• Computer Engineering: 04 Posts
• Environment Engineering: 02 Posts
• Textile Engineering: 04 Posts

Education Qualification:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology or equivalent in the streams of Biomedical/Computer/Environment/Textile with not less than sixty percent marks in aggregate.
• Master’s Degree in Natural Sciences or equivalent [in Chemistry discipline only] with not less than sixty percent marks in aggregate.
• Having a valid GATE score of 2021/2022/2023.

Age Limite:

• The age limit is between 21 – 30 years age.

Age Relaxation:

• The Relaxation in upper age limit for SC/ST candidates shall be 5 years; for OBC candidates shall be 3 years; for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (UR) candidates shall be 10 years; for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (SC/ST) candidates shall be 15 years; for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (OBC) candidates shall be 13 years.
• The upper age limit for Departmental candidates serving in BIS and meeting requisite essential qualifications is 50 years.

Selection Process:

• The selection process is based on merit & includes an Interview.
• The shortlisting of candidates for Personal Interviews will be based on the valid score of GATE 2021, GATE 2022, or GATE 2023, as may be applicable.
• Short-listing of candidates for Personal Interviews will be done in order of merit of valid GATE Scores.
