India Post, also known as the Post Office, is India’s government-operated postal system under the Ministry of Communications. It holds the distinction of being the most widely distributed postal system globally. Subsequently, in 1854, under the administration of Lord Dalhousie, it was reorganized into a service under the Crown. Dalhousie’s reforms included the introduction of uniform postage rates and the passage of the India Post Office Act 1854, which established the position of Director General of Post for the entire country.

Education Qualification
Qualifications for the Staff Car Driver (Ordinary Grade) position include:
i. Possession of a valid driving license for light and heavy motor vehicles.
ii. Knowledge of motor mechanisms, including the ability to remove minor defects in vehicles.
iii. Experience in driving light and heavy motor vehicles for at least three years (certification required).
iv. Pass in 10th standard from a recognized Board or Institute.
Desirable Qualification
Three years of service as a Home guard or Civil Volunteers.
Age limit
The age limit for the Staff Car Driver (Ordinary Grade) position is 18 to 27 years. Relaxations are applicable:
Up to 5 years for SC & ST candidates
Up to 3 years for OBC candidates
For Government servants, up to 40 years as per Central Government instructions or orders
For Ex-Servicemen, up to a maximum of 3 years (08 years for SC & ST and 06 years for OBC) after deduction of military service rendered from the actual age.
Selection for the Driver position will be based on a driving test to assess competency in driving light and heavy motor vehicles, including knowledge of motor mechanisms and the ability to remove minor defects in vehicles. Additionally, there will be a Theory Test for candidates meeting the eligibility criteria. The pattern, syllabus, date, and venue of the tests will be communicated separately to eligible candidates. No intimation will be sent to ineligible applicants.
The selected candidates will receive a pay scale of Rs. 19,900 to Rs. 63,200 in Pay Level-2 under the 7th CPC, along with admissible allowances.
