South Eastern Railway (SER) is one of the 19 railway zones in India, headquartered in Garden Reach, Kolkata, West Bengal. Online applications are invited from eligible Indian nationals for engagement/training as Act Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961, and the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 (as amended from time to time). The training will be provided in the workshops and other establishments of South Eastern Railway. Applications must be submitted online, and no other mode of application will be accepted.

South Eastern Railway (SER) Recruitment 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit:

• Minimum age: 15 years
• Maximum age: 24 years as of 01.01.2025
• Relaxation:
  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • Physically Handicapped: 10 years
  • Ex-servicemen: 10 years + 3 years for service in Defence (with at least 6 months of continuous service)

Educational Qualification:

• Matriculation (10th) from a recognized board with 50% marks
• ITI Certificate in the relevant trade from NCVT/SCVT.

Medical Fitness:

• Candidates must meet the physical fitness standards prescribed under the Apprentices Act, 1961, certified by a Railway Medical Doctor.

• Merit List: Based on Matriculation marks (minimum 50% aggregate).
  • In case of a tie, the older candidate or the one who passed earlier will be preferred.
• Shortlisting: 1.5 times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted for document verification.
• Final Merit List: Prepared trade-wise and community-wise based on Matriculation marks.
• Document Verification: Original documents required; medical fitness as per the prescribed format.
• Stipend: Selected candidates will receive a prescribed stipend.
• Unfilled Reserved Vacancies:
  • OBC vacancies will be filled by UR candidates if unfilled.
  • Unfilled SC/ST vacancies will be filled by other reserved categories or UR candidates.
• PWD/ESM Reservation: 3% earmarked for PWD and ESM; unfilled positions will be filled by UR candidates.
• Ex-Servicemen/Armed Forces Personnel: Must provide relevant certificates for claiming reservation.
