The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is a government organization in India responsible for recruiting staff for various ministries, departments, and subordinate offices of the government. It operates as an attached office of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) and comprises a chairman, two members, and a secretary-cum-controller of examinations, with the latter holding a post equivalent to that of an additional secretary to the government of India. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will conduct an open competitive examination to recruit Junior Engineers (Civil, Mechanical & Electrical) for various Government of India organizations/offices. These posts are classified as Group ‘B’ (Non-Gazetted), Non-Ministerial, and fall under Level-6 (Rs 35400-112400/-) of the pay matrix of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
