The West Bengal Central School Service Commission (WBSSC) is responsible for recruitment of teachers and other staff in West Bengal’s government schools. It conducts the State Level Selection Test (SLST) to select Assistant Teachers for Secondary and Higher Secondary levels.
WBSSC has released notification for recruitment of 35,726 Assistant Teachers through 2nd SLST 2025. Candidates meeting eligibility criteria can apply online before the deadline.

Age Limit: 21–40 years as on 01.01.2025.
Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 8 years for PH candidates.
Educational Qualifications:
Assistant Teacher (Classes IX-X):
(1) Graduation/Postgraduation with minimum 50% marks + B.Ed. from NCTE recognized institution, OR
(2) 4-year B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed. from NCTE recognized institution.
Assistant Teacher (Classes XI-XII):
(1) Postgraduation with minimum 50% marks + B.Ed. from NCTE recognized institution, OR
(2) Postgraduation with minimum 50% marks + B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed. from NCTE recognized institution.
(3) 5% marks relaxation for reserved candidates.
(4) Qualifications must be acquired by 14.07.2025.
Selection will be based on:
– Written Examination (OMR-based, 60 marks)
– Academic Qualification (10 marks)
– Teaching Experience (10 marks)
– Oral Interview (10 marks)
– Lecture Demonstration (10 marks)
Final merit will be on total 100 marks.
Salary will be as per West Bengal state pay structure for Assistant Teachers.
₹500 for General/OBC candidates and ₹200 for SC/ST/PH candidates.
